In owning a lot of watches, many of them automatics, I've become pretty familiar with the world of watch winders. Heiden has proven to be a reliable and decently priced option. Chiyoda has actually become my main brand for winders, because of their full featured models at such low prices -- I'd rather spend money on another watch, than on a super pricey winder that doesn't do any more than a more affordable one -- but Heiden is another brand which continues to serve me well.I have quite a few of these dual ones, along with single winders from Heiden, and even a quad winder from them. All have held up well as the years have passed and this one is working perfectly.I like this model because it also can run for months on batteries, which is great because this one is located where there really isn't a wall outlet close by, and I'd rather not run a long extension cord for it, so I really appreciate that it has the option of battery power. Using D cell batteries, they last for quite some time.It isn't a "Cadillac" of winders, but my need is for something that works reliably, and still looks nice, and this fills the bill. Simple spring pillows are used to hold the watches, and then they just snuggle into the winder cradles and are held firmly. There is a full range of options for both TPD and rotation direction, so it can serve any range of watches, and, unlike other affordable winders, each winder on this dual set has its own control, so it works great for me, using it for two watches with different winder settings.Craftsmanship is excellent, with solid finishing inside and out. Just a plastic/plexiglass/acrylic window, but, as I say, this is in the affordable range, so expecting interior lighting, glass fixtures or super luxury materials is unreasonable. And, I will say that nothing about it feels or looks "cheap" and, as a home for your watches, it makes an attractive display piece.Footprint is a tad large, and so that's often why I go with Chiyoda, that has some smaller options, such as a stacking design in a dual winder to take up less shelf or surface space (plus they tend to cost less, while performing the same task) but, in this case, I wanted a more prominent showcase for the two watches I bought, and it matches my other Heidens, and I know from experience how reliable these are so it as an easy decision to pick up another one.Absolutely quiet, does not magnetize my watches, works like a charm.I think Heiden provides an excellent step up from the extreme budget options for winders and is certainly more luxurious than those ultra economic plastic ones (even a tad more luxurious than some of Chiyodas offerings), yet is not up in the price range of Wolf -- in fact, easily less than half the cost of a dual Wolf. Granted, it's not as ultra classy as my Wolf winder, but, it also cost far less, to accomplish the same job, which is why I like this brand. There's just really nothing not to like here, so if you're in the market for a winder, you can't go wrong on this buy. It works as well as any higher priced option, it looks very decent, and keeps my watches safe, protected and wound so they are ready to wear, even when I haven't worn one for months (which is what happens when you have so many watches that each one gets maybe only a few days or weeks of wrist time, per year).Bottom line, it's an easy five star recommendation and I'm sure it won't be the last Heiden winder I buy, since I have more automatics on my future wish list.Great winder at a very good price!
